RAILROADNYC is the story of a high-turnover railroad apartment in Manhattan, taking place from 1989 to the early nineties.
It follows successive waves of tenants and their lives, from the first and only lease-signer to the last squatter tenant who is physically removed. The tale is told in vignettes as the personnel rotate in and out; a short-tempered, indifferent building superintendent oversees the revolving door living situation. The backdrop is the last days of an analog Manhattan where AIDS is still prevalent, the Berlin Wall comes down, the cops are cracking down on pot but crack is still an epidemic, hip-hop and rap rule the east coast, word is getting around about a growing music scene in Seattle, and a digital revolution is about to unfold.
This short film depicts a scene that occurs somewhere in the middle of the story.

BRENDAN BRODERICK
Brendan Broderick is an American author and screenwriter. A graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, his screenwriting credits include numerous B-movies and action films, many made with producer Roger Corman. His first novel, Play It Straight, was published in 2012. RAILROAD NYC is the first film he wrote and directed.
